Made in 2012 along the Bad Pass Trail and the Pryor Mountains of Montana, Tenuous Remnants photographs tipi rings — the weathered rock weights that held tipi covers, laid by Crow and Shoshone ancestors over a thousand to two thousand years ago — sacred prayer sites that address the stars. Set against them are the contemporary remnants of westward expansion: homestead landscapes, tire marks. The epigraph is from Richard Blanco.
